Business Member Highlight: Webber Recreational Design

Below is a contribution from GMPT Business Member Webber Recreational Design. For more information, please visit www.webberrec.com.

At Webber Recreational Design, we build relationships—not just playgrounds—and have been since 1995. We are a one-stop shop for schools, municipalities, outdoor parks, and playground needs. We offer a wide range of products, including play systems, shelters, water features, and site furnishings.

Our professionals help you design from the beginning and oversee installation to bring your earliest ideas to a completed project. Webber Recreational Design represents some of the industry’s highest-quality park and playground. Our team has close to 50 years of cumulative experience in the parks and playground industry.

We work on projects from small neighborhood playground solutions to large inclusive destination playground systems. One of those projects is Eagan Woodhaven Park, where we worked with the city to focus on accessibility to promote play for community members of all ages and abilities.

Similarly, we worked hand in hand with the city of New Ulm to create a unique themed destination playground at German Park. Playing off New Ulm’s deep-rooted German heritage, we were inspired to create a castle-themed playground utilizing Miracle Recreation’s custom playground team, featuring a moat designed with poured-in-place surfacing.

Sometimes, projects allow us to utilize creative products like nature-inspired hillside slides and climbers. One project where we were able to do this was in Highlands Park in Cottage Grove, where we utilized UPC Parks’ Simple Set Base Embankment Slide.

We also specialize in water play equipment. We manufacture, design, and install commercial water slides, water play equipment, and splashpads. One of our favorites is Lagoon Park in the city of Jordan. The capable City of Jordan public works team installed our splash pad components, which were complimented by their incredible landscaping and concrete work.

An example of our commercial waterslides can be seen at the recently opened New Ulm Recreation Center Aquatic Center flume slides.

Not every project needs to start from the beginning. We also focus on maintenance to keep parks and playgrounds in great shape well after installation. Recapping poured-in-place surfacing helps to do this. For example, the 8,000 sq ft Three Rivers Park District Elm Creek Park was brought new life through new surfacing, maintaining its colorful theme and keeping in compliance with current playground safety surfacing requirements.

The upkeep of looks and functionality extends not just to parks and playgrounds but also to water play elements. We have recently reconditioned waterslides at Valley Fair’s Soak City waterpark and several other municipalities throughout the state, ensuring the safety and durability of these products remain throughout their lives.

We have a strong list of suppliers and provide consultation and design services free of charge. We can also provide high-quality renderings or 3-D fly-throughs of designs to help guide fundraising. After the project is complete, we can even supply the customer with drone photography of the completed project. We can be a turnkey solution for taking your park and playground dreams and making them a reality.
