NOW is the time to reach out to the Governor!

Advocating for funding for the local parks and trails grant programs is a top priority for the GMPT this year, but we need your help NOW to be successful. Sen. Carrie Ruud (R-Breezy Point) has agreed to author our bill in the Senate and we are working on finding an author in the House, but the most important next step is persuading Governor Walz to include the proposed funding in his draft bonding bill. For that to happen, we need your help! One of the best ways to help is for your city council or county to pass a resolution of support and forward it to the Governor’s office and legislators. Please see these instructions and a sample resolution.

Although there is no official deadline, the sooner the better as the Governor is putting his bonding bill together in December to be released in January. If you can’t get a resolution done right away, or if you want to share your support individually, we encourage you to send a letter or email asking that $4 million in bonding for the local parks and trails grant programs be included in any bonding bill. You can use the sample resolution as a guidepost.
