It’s time to renew your GMPT membership!
As we near the end of another calendar year, we are also nearing the end of the GMPT membership year.
We hope you appreciate the value provided by your membership. Once again, GMPT had a successful year at the Legislature. Our 2019 legislative efforts resulted in increased funding for local parks and trails grant programs, protected Greater Minnesota’s share of Legacy funding, and helped establish a task force that gives Greater Minnesota a seat at the table in recommending how Legacy funds should be divided in the future. You can read more in our 2019 Session Report.
The GMPT renewal forms for 2020 are now in the mail — you should receive yours soon, if you haven’t already. Membership fees are based on membership category: government, non profit/individual or business. In the case of government units, the membership fee is based on population. Your invoice will reflect the amount due based on your category or the population within your unit of government.
You will also notice on your invoice that we’ve included a line for an “elective legislative assessment.” The legislative assessment is an important source of revenue to help fund the GMPT’s legislative work. We place this line on the invoice as a suggestion that each member include a voluntary payment equal to their membership fee to support our legislative efforts. The GMPT has kept membership dues as low as possible so that every unit of government can afford to belong. The larger our membership number is, the more effective our legislative efforts will be. This strategy of keeping our membership dues affordable to build our membership numbers only works if each member with the ability to make an additional voluntary contribution chooses to add the legislative assessment.
Thank you in advance for renewing your GMPT membership and for your legislative assessment payment.
