From the Chair: As summer sets, our eyes are on the fall
Below is a message from GMPT Chair Gina Hugo. You can reach her at gina.hugo@co.sherburne.mn.us.
Greetings, GMPT members! Summer always seems to evaporate so fast as we Minnesotans jam as much outdoor activity into these splendid days as they will hold. Schedules burst with commitments to meet the needs of work, family, and friends. This time of year, I always look back and realize that I forgot to pause and soak it in! With that, I am heading into fall with a resolve to capitalize on all my time outdoors and mindfully appreciate what great environments make up our parks and trails.
Our Fall Meeting is approaching fast and will provide a great opportunity to visit and experience Hartley Nature Center in Duluth.
The Fall Meeting is our time as an organization to:
- Hear highlights from Business Members
- Set Legislative Priorities
- Elect Board Members*
- Network with Greater MN Park & Trail professionals
So, be sure to mark your calendars for October 9 and join us in the excitement! More details coming soon.
*GMPT depends on consistent input from Greater MN Park & Trail professionals who are on the frontlines of this important work! If you have considered running for the Board and dismissed it—please reconsider! If you work in Parks & Trails, writing grants, leading programs, doing maintenance, or administrative tasks, you are qualified and needed on the Board. Each Board Member’s participation enables us to include a spectrum of perspectives in our decisions. If you are interested or have questions about serving on our Board, please contact me at gina.hugo@co.sherburne.mn.us.
